teachers
IMPROVING LEARNING THROUGH EXERCISE
Neuro-Developmental
Delay may affect many children with literacy and numeracy difficulties
receiving on-going learning support and intervention as well as
children who may not meet the criteria for ascertainment. It may also
be a contributing factor in children who present with poor
concentration, poor co-ordination, poor handwriting and difficulty
sitting still.
A one-day course in the remediation of NDD through a developmental exercise programme is available for teachers and support staff from Trudy McDonald, a teacher who trained at INPP as a Neuro-Developmental Therapist. The course covers:

exercises are based upon normal movement patterns which develop in the
first year/s of life and which play a crucial role in laying the
foundations for subsequent academic learning. The programme may be used
with an individual child, a small group or a whole class of children
over the course of a school year. To affect change, 10 – 15 minutes
daily practise is required.
The courses are conducted at Learning Options Centre or at your school for convenience. Participants should wear suitable clothing for practising the exercises which are performed on the floor. A programme manual is provided and the number on the course is limited to allow for individual attention. For
